WE DO EVENTS | More Info
Hey girly pops, I’m back and boy do I have THINGS TO SAY and maybe even some tea to spill….
If you’re new here, welcome to my corner of the internet where I talk about whatever I want and somehow it’s work. If you’ve been here since Issue 1, hi, I missed you (I have separation anxiety), anyway let’s get into it, shall we!
Sorry if this is niche but WHY, for the love of pizza, is soft launching back??? Explain to me how we all collectively agreed that hard launching a relationship was cringe and now every second Instagram story is a man’s forearm holding a wine glass like it’s a Michelin star reveal.
Soft launching has reached new levels. We’re not even getting silhouettes anymore. We’re getting elbows. Maybe a shoe. Is that wallet a man’s or yours? A suspicious reflection in a spoon if you zoom in hard enough (promise I’m not crazy).
And the comments??
“Wait who is this 👀” “Not you soft launching” “DROP THE LORE”
I get it, information is power, there’s power in mystery, and there’s something kinda iconic about making the internet beg for context.
Which, not to be dramatic, is exactly what we’re about to start doing with our new winter menus. Whoops. Getting ahead of myself. 👀

I said what I said.
Sharing plates are one of the greatest social experiments of our time and people don’t talk about it enough. The concept is simple, food arrives, everyone eats, everyone’s happy. Except that is not what happens. What happens is a masterclass in human behaviour that will tell you everything you need to know about a person in under twenty minutes.
There’s the Hoverer, who is already reaching before the plate hits the table. There’s the Martyr, who insists they’re “not that hungry” and then eats half the burrata with their eyes while pretending not to. There’s the Divider, who actually portions everything out equally and somehow makes it feel aggressive. And then there’s the person who just… takes the last piece without asking. No check-in, no “does anyone want this?” Just gone. You know who you are.
Here’s my actual hot take though, sharing plates reveal how someone moves through the world. Are they generous? Are they considerate? Do they read the table or just the menu? It’s a vibe check disguised as a dining format and I am obsessed with it.
The good news is there’s a version of sharing done right, and it looks like good food, great cocktails, and a table full of people who actually pass the test. We like to think we set that scene pretty well.
I love a TikTok trend. But you know what I love even more? A niche TikTok trend that lands on your FYP and you just think, these people are on the money.
Enter: Fat Sundays. Now I know what you’re thinking, and yes, the word “fat” leads with questions rather than answers. But hear me out.
A Fat Sunday is exactly what it sounds like. Get into your cozies, eat whatever the hell you want, film it. That’s the whole thing. People are doing it everywhere, Melbourne, London, New York, and the format never changes: maximum comfort, zero apologies, full documentation for the girlies.
It’s less of a trend and more of a ritual. A weekly permission slip to slow down, order the thing, eat all of the thing, and make absolutely no moves toward being a productive member of society.
The anti-productivity era is real and Fat Sunday is its church. And if your Sunday currently involves anything other than eating something delicious in an outfit you wouldn’t be seen dead in outside, I’d like to formally invite you to reconsider your whole thing.
Fat Sunday to all who celebrate. 🫶🍕🍩 (#fatsunday)
And if you’re looking for somewhere to celebrate Fat Sunday properly, we’ll be here. Cozies optional, cocktails mandatory.

Okay I probably shouldn’t be saying this but — a new winter menu is coming to Flour Child in June and I am not going to elaborate further.
What I will say is that if you haven’t tried what’s on the current menu yet, the clock is ticking. Some things are too good to quietly disappear and I would hate for you to miss out. Consider this your sign to book a table, order the thing, and eat it before it’s gone forever.
You didn’t hear it from me.
That’s all from me this issue, my little insiders.
We covered soft launch psychology, the social warfare of group dinners, chaotic eating habits, and dropped some very subtle hints that winter is about to go OFF.
Same time next issue.
Stay nosy. Stay hungry. Stay a little bit unhinged.
And if you need somewhere to debrief it all, you know where we are.
