The Perfect Night Out

From the first pre-drink to falling asleep fully dressed. This is my ideal night out, Flour Child Bottomless Brunch included!

All good nights out start at home. The pres are essentially what set the pace for the whole night ahead and because we have a new bottomless session at 10pm, yeah unreal right? It got me thinking…

It is truly the perfect addition, making my night out routine 10 times better than it already is.

Forget those 5am morning routines on your FYP, this is how to have the slayest night out known to mankind. I love being dramatic x

Okay party animals, let’s crack on.

Begin getting ready approximately four hours too early

Like any good night out, you count backwards from the time you need to leave, which means when you wake up at 10am, your day is already over and you are somehow already running late. Catching my vibe?

There is not much we can do about it, but we can make 9 hours of getting ready iconic af.

Start with morning brunch, because lining the stomach starts before noon. Then it is time for an everything shower for the ages. Hog that hot water for a solid 20 minutes while you listen to Drake’s new album and contemplate every decision that led you to this exact moment.

Hair, makeup, outfit planning, and for the love of all things holy, pick an outfit before you start getting ready. Do a fashion show with your besties, ask ChatGPT, scour Pinterest, I do not care, just plan that outfit.

Now all your friends are arriving, mirrors are scattered, someone is using the bathroom lighting, someone is sitting on the floor doing mascara, and someone is yelling, “Can someone zip me up?”

This is where the night truly begins.

Select the perfect pre-drink

Now you are going to create the perfect pre-drink.

I am saying get the blender out, raid the alcohol cupboard, not your parents’ good one, and make something fun.

This is a more serious decision than people give it credit for.

The perfect pre-drink is fun without sabotaging the entire night before it has even begun. It needs to be easy to drink, affordable, and not so strong that someone is crying about their ex by 8:30pm.

Sorry to call you out babe…

Bonus points if it looks cute. Aesthetic queen behaviour.

Build a banging getting-ready playlist

The playlist determines the trajectory of the entire evening. I do not make the rules.

You need nostalgic throwbacks, current bangers, and at least one song so unserious that everyone has to stop doing their eyeliner to perform it in full.

Personal favourite: Stay by Rihanna, for obvious reasons.

This is also the precise moment confidence becomes dangerously high and your flatmate tells you that you are good at singing. You will never fully believe her, but sing anyway. You are a star.

If you need a playlist, I used to rinse this, I got you.

Photoshoot Time !!!

No one is allowed to leave the house until 147 photos have been taken in the exact same spot, against the exact same wall.

Iconic, to say the least.

Most will be blurry. It is hard when your friends do not work in social media and almost hit you with an upwards angle giving absolutely nothing whilst continuing to tell you they aren’t a millennial…

Love my friends though.

Eventually, someone gets the shot, the group approves, and you will never see photos again.

Arrive at Flour Childs Late Night Bottomless

Now the night can properly begin.

Here is the thing Late Night Bottomless fixes: you no longer have to choose between dinner and drinks.

You can eat actual food, like the civilised adult you were always meant to be, keep the cocktails coming, and let the evening descend into beautiful chaos on its own schedule.

Late Night Bottomless runs on Saturdays from 10pm until midnight at our St Kilda venue. We are talking bottomless drinks, a late-night menu built for exactly this hour, and the kind of energy that makes staying out feel effortless, rather than a decision you have to keep actively making.

Here’s what’s waiting for you.

Become deeply attached to strangers in the bathroom

No perfect night out is complete without a stranger complimenting your outfit at the basins.

Suddenly, the two of you are best friends. You hype up her dress. She tells you her entire relationship history. You swap Instagrams and swear you will stay in touch forever.

Whether you ever speak again is completely irrelevant. For four minutes, that was your person.

Fun fact, I actually met one of my now best friends in a bathroom on a night out, so this can absolutely become a true story.

Secure the late-night snack

Usually, this is the stage where I would be ordering a kebab or a HSP with a diabolical amount of garlic yoghurt. By all means, I support the cause.

However, Flour Child’s Late Night menu has been right there the whole time, so if you have not had a taste by this point, that does sound like a you problem.

Truffle caviar fries at midnight? Correct.

Pinsa by the slice after cocktails? Obviously.

Return home and debrief with your housemates

Arguably, this is the most important stage of the entire night.

You sit in the living room still fully dressed and deliver an extremely detailed account of everything that happened to housemates who did not ask and were not there.

You discuss the audacity of your Uber driver, the state of your white heels, the bathroom bestie you will never forget, and that person on the dance floor who has already dropped you a text.

Someone introduces a completely unrelated topic. Someone else begins eating shredded cheese directly from the bag.

The conversation makes no sense and yet somehow means everything.

Suddenly, it is 3am and bedtime is no longer optional.

Wake up without a deadly hangover

Would this be a true night-out guide if we did not discuss the final stage?

Ideally, you take off your makeup, drink some water, eat a snack, and behave like the well-adjusted person you pretend to be during the work week.

Realistically, you are removing one shoe, placing a glass of water beside your bed like it is a personal achievement, and promising yourself you will “just rest your eyes for a second.”

Please do not take this as professional advice. Hydrate, make good choices where possible, and know that future you deserves a fighting chance.

If you wake up at any point during the night, drink more water.

That is the wisdom.

In theory?

The perfect night out needs good music, questionable decisions, elite late-night food, and somewhere that keeps the drinks and energy flowing well past the point most places start stacking chairs.

It starts with the pres, builds with the playlist, peaks with Late Night Bottomless, and ends with a deeply emotional lounge room debrief while someone eats cheese from the bag.

Book your Late Night Bottomless session at Flour Child and let tomorrow’s problems belong to tomorrow.
